Sinsteden angelegten Feldgehölze wurden im vergangenen Jahr umgestaltet. Aufgrund neuer archäologischer Erkenntnisse wurden die vorhandenen Pflanzungen durch flachwurzelnde Gehölze ersetzt um den archäologische Fund nicht zu zerstören. Teilweise wurden die Bäume innerhalb der Gesamtfläche wiederverwendet, teilweise wurden die überschüssigen Bäume von der RWE Power AG der Gemeinde Rommerskirchen zur Verfügung gestellt. „Wir haben an einer ganzen Reihe von Standorten im Gemeindegebiet die Bäume wieder angepflanzt. Sie wurden als Feldgehölze, Hecken, Sichtschutz und Einzelbäume an markanten Stellen wieder eingesetzt“, so Pressesprecher Dr. Elmar Gasten. "Insgesamt haben wir mit den Pflanzen an vielen Stellen das Orts-Landschaftsbild verbessern können." Es sind aber immer noch mehrere Dutzend Wildkirschen vorhanden, die nun den Bürgern zur Verfügung gestellt werden. Zum Umwelttag am 26.03.2011 kann daher von 10:00 bis 12:00 Uhr vor Ort Selbstabholern ein junger Wildkirschbaum für den privaten Garten zur Verfügung gestellt werden. Die im Einschlag stehenden Bäume müssen selbst ausgegraben werden. Als Ansprechpartner steht in der Zeit angegebenen Zeit Herr Elsler vom Bauhof zur Verfügung.
